Prayers for the repose of the soul of "Elizabeth "Betty" Spur

The prayers if St. Stephen’s are requested for the repose of the soul of Elizabeth “Betty” Spur who did yesterday afternoon (July 27).

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your
servant Betty. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of
your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your
own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of your mercy,
into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the
glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the
mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Prayers for Betty Spur

The prayers of St. Stephen’s are request for Elizabeth “Betty” Spur, who is nearing the end of her earthly journey. I visited her late this evening, anointed her, prayed her favorite Psalm (121) with her and commended her to the embrace of her loving God.

Your prayers are requested for her children and their families at this time as well.

Almighty God, look on your loved one, Betty, and comfort her with the promise of life everlasting, given in the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the Guatemala Medical Mission

Gracious God, your Son before he ascended to glory declared that your people  would receive power from the Holy Spirit to bear witness to him to the ends of the earth: Be present with the Guatemala Medical Mission, who go forth in his Name to serve those n need. Protect them all the day long and bring them safely home. Let your love shine through their witness, so that all who come to them may see your glory in all that is given, through Jesus  Christ our Lord. Amen.

Farewell to Stephanie Parrott

It was a busy, very bittersweet morning at St. S's today. It was great seeing Vanessa Bourgeois and Fred Greer , who were visiting us from Virginia. And we wished Stephanie Parrott a fond farewell as she moves to Minot, ND where she will be wed later this month, with a ceremony at St. S's in December.

The main entrance in 1985, and now

As we prepare for our 60th anniversary celebration, it’s always interesting to look at then-and-now photos. The first is a photo from circa 1985 of the original main entrance to the church. This was before the current entrance and new addition were added in 1998. Immediately identifiable in this photo are Bishop Harold Hopkins to left, the Rev’d Sandi Holmberg, who was rector of St. Stephen’s form 1985-2000, and, on the very far right, Greta Taylor (who was Greta Fahey at the time of this photo).
