PAULI MURRAY DOCUMENTARY
On Friday, August 21 join us at 7:00 p.m. We have rented out
the Fargo Theater for a special screening of the award-winning documentary, My Name Is Pauli Murray. The event is free
and open to all. If you plan to attend, please speak with Stephanie Gracia (Sgarcia88@gmail.com) An RSVP isn’t
required but having idea of attendance will be helpful. The Rev’d
Pauli Murray (1910–1985) was the first African American
woman to be ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church. Her feast day is July 1.
Pride in the Park 2026
· 2026 was the 25th year of Pride in the Fargo Moorhead
area
· St. Stephens was one of 6 churches represented in the
Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo area (out of the roughly 270 faith based
organizations in the area)
· We had 14 volunteers from St. Stephen's assist
throughout the day from set up to clean up

The vibes were high
throughout the day at the table. We laughed and talked about life and drew
us to St. Stephens
· We had 3 parishioners stop by to visit
· We spoke with roughly 73 people in the community-
likely an underestimate (beyond just handing a sticker or a
pin.

Highlights
o
A woman stopped by and
said "I am a Baptist. From the south. I had no idea this existed."
She described her gratitude for the existence of progressive
congregations.
o
"I am not a church
person. I am not religious. I am so glad you are here."
o
We talked to an
ex-catholic who missed the ritual of church and of course we talked about
smokey st. Stephens.
o
"I am so
happy to see churches embracing this"
o
Many rocks were painted
& stickers handed out & tattoos given

A glass bottle can take up to 1
million years to decompose. Glass takes a very, very long time to break down.
It can take a glass bottle more than a million years to decompose in the
environment, possibly even more if it’s in a landfill. This means that glass
manufactured and used 5000 years ago may still be present in the environment.
Because its life cycle is so long, and because glass doesn’t leach any
chemicals, it’s better to repurpose and reuse it repeatedly before recycling
