Pulpit Exchange on June 21

 

We will have a pulpit Exchange with the Fargo-Moorhead Unitarian Universalist Church on Sunday, June 21.

 

Deacon John will be giving a presentation at the UU Church that morning.

 

Carolyn Monzingo will be joining us for our services.

 

Carolyn has been a member of the Fargo Moorhead Unitarian Universalist Church since 1972 and has served on the Board as well as several committees in addition to teaching Religious Education. She has been in the pulpit on occasion and is their unofficial historian.    Over the years she has also worked for the 1980 US Census Bureau and as an Administrator for two of North Dakota's US Senators. She retired in 2020 after 20 years as a secondary substitute teacher.

She will be sharing her homily: Friendship as a Spiritual Discipline

Friendship may seem like a bland subject compared to the grit of great themes like love, death, truth, or sacrifice. It rarely inspires music and is seldom controversial—after all, who is against friendship? However, friendship can be considered a spiritual discipline. Much like meditation, journaling, or religious ritual, it is a method of spiritual development that requires similar dedication and offers similar rewards.

Good to know:

June is Pride month to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride Day is celebrated on June 28 every year. June 28, 1969, marks the beginning of the Stonewall Uprising, a series of events between police and LGBTQ+ protesters that stretched over six days.
