Fun Facts:

  • The first text message was sent on December 3rd, 1992. It said, “Merry Christmas.
  • Alabama was the first state in the US to recognize Christmas as a holiday in the year 1836. The last state to recognize Christmas as a holiday was Oklahoma in the year 1907.
  • The Christmas wreath is representative of the crown of thorns that Jesus wore. Eventually, the colors of Christmas – red, green, and gold were added. Red is said to represent the blood of Jesus, green is supposed to symbolize life, and gold stands for royalty and light. And the evergreen foliage used to make Christmas wreaths symbolizes the continuity of life and nature even in the darkest days of winters.

A Prayer for St. Stephen's

Eternal God of love,
Creator and sustainer of all good things, We praise you and thank you for our community of fellowship at St. Stephen’s and in the Diocese of North Dakota.

We ask for your continued grace that we might be a holy people, seeking first to know you and to serve you with all our lives. May we become living stones you use to build up your church.

We ask that your Spirit will guide and empower us to be witnesses of your love in our parish, homes and community.

Open doors for us as we reach out to others, that we may lead those who do not know you into a new and life-changing relationship with you.

Give us grace to be good stewards of all you have given us that our common life together might bring glory to your name.

Through our Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
