Sacristy renovations

The sacristy renovation continues. The beautiful counter top was put in today, as were the drawer knobs. It looks great! Thank you to Paul Sando and Steve Bolduc for their hard work getting this all done.

Words of Wisdom:

No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves. ~Amelia Earhart

Green Team tips:

·       Go outside and bring the outside in. Create more nature connecting us better with our Earth.

·       Sign petitions, vote, volunteer, march for and donate to causes that save our Earth.

·       Help reduce pollution by recycling.

·       Take shorter showers and skip baths. You’ll save water and electricity.

Sacristy renovations continue. The carpet for the former "step of death" and in the sacristy itself was completed today. It looks great. (That bit of carpet in the sacristy floor is a remnant, not a patchy area). We still need to install the counter top and the sink & vanity. Slowly but surely we're getting there. Dedication of the new sacristy will take place on Dedication Sunday in September.

Garden Clean-up Day

The St. Stephen's gardens - including the Memorial Garden - have been overcome by weeds.  To address the problem we will have a garden workday on Saturday, June 17, starting at 8:30 am.  Please come and spend some time helping to make our gardens beautiful again.  Bring your own garden gloves and your favorite garden tool.  Hope to see you Saturday  morning. Thanks.

Words of Wisdom:

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
life is a challenge, meet it.
life is a duty, complete it.
life is a game, play it.
life is costly, care for it.
life is wealth, keep it.
life is love, enjoy it.
life is mystery, know it.
life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is a sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is Life, fight for it!.”

~Mother Teresa

A Green Team tip:

Save energy by doing a quick “one minute scan” before you leave your home. Are all of the lights off? Are there any fans running you can turn off? Are there any unused appliances you can unplug? Even small steps like this make a big impact over time!

Good to know:

What is “Ordinary Time”?

The season of Easter ended the Sunday of Pentecost (May 28th this year.) which means we are now in “Ordinary Time”, the Season of Nurture and Growth - The periods of time following Epiphany and Pentecost are referred to as "Ordinary" because their Sundays are numbered in ordinal fashion. The focus of Ordinary Time is on developing a deeper understanding of Christian discipleship. The color for this season is Green (for growth).

A Green Team tip:

·       Understand what you truly value and need to buy and use much less.

·       Consume whole, local, organic, sustainably raised food when possible.

·       Purchase timeless, ethical, natural-fiber, slow-fashion, & much less.

·       Use safe cleaners & personal care products.
