Easter Letter from Fr. Jamie
Easter, 2010
Alleluia! Christ is risen.
The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Easter Greetings!
As probably you know and have heard me say on many occasions: Easter is, by far, my favorite Season in the Church Year. I love it not only for the Paschal Mystery we celebrate and contemplate; I love it as well because, like our baptismal faith, it is all about renewal and rebirth. As Abbot Andrew Marr, OSB (of the Episcopal Benedictine Abbey of St. Gregory’s in Three Rivers, Michigan) writes:
“The story of Jesus’ Resurrection has not come to an end. The story spills out of the New Testament into our lives with its challenge to let God gather us into the life God offers us.”
During this Easter Season and throughout the year, we are able to witness and participate in his “spilling out” of Jesus’ Resurrection in our life and work here at St. Stephen’s. This congregation has become a place and community in which I am finding myself rejoicing and giving thanks for on a daily basis. Truly I have seen the miracle of renewal and rebirth here in our church community.
I would like to invite each of you to join with me in commemorating Jesus’ last week during Holy Week and celebrating this great and beautiful Event of the Resurrection at St. Stephen’s. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Fargo will join us for these services.
In addition to the services at St. Stephen’s, please note that Bishop Michael Smith has once again invited us to participate in the Easter Vigil at Gethsemane Cathedral on Saturday, April 3.
So, please do join in this beautiful and important time of the year by worshipping at St. Stephen’s.
And again, be assured of my blessings to you and those you love in this season of glory and eternal life and, with those blessings, know of my deep gratitude and joy in being able to serve alongside you at St. Stephen’s.
Peace, your Friend and Priest,
Fr. Jamie Parsley+
